Very simple idea: first half of 2018 & second half will have two set of impulse waves, & we're nearing the breakout of Wave 3 of the first one.
Green is long-term trend line. Really solid; only in capitulation has it been penetrated.
Today, we see some speculative shorts. It's normal. However, we're in a different situation than a week ago (see oscillators).
Here's how it happens: Very soon when the shorts have to cover their positions, we'll break out of the resistance. In other words, the bulls may not be strong enough by themselves, but buying pressure from shorts having the cover their positions will push us atop.
