1690 is strong support as selling slows above. Buying a bounce off support is low risk. Tight SL.
Understand that you have to consider how much you want to lose before giving up on this support.
That amount will of course be completely up to you.
Also, understand that gold doesn't necessarily need to bounce off the support to break out into 1700s (or 1600s to the downside).
