Grover Llorens Activator Strategy AnalysisThe Grover Llorens Activator is a trailing stop indicator deeply inspired by the parabolic SAR indicator, and aim to provide early exit points and reversal detection. The indicator was posted not so long ago, you can find it here :
Today a strategy using the indicator is proposed, and its profitability is analyzed on 3 different markets with the main time frame being 1 hour, remember that lower time frames involve lower absolute price changes, therefore we are way more affected by the spread, and we can require a larger position sizing depending on our investment target, trading higher time-frames is always a good practice and this is why 1 hour is selected. Based on the result we might make various conclusions regarding the indicator accuracy and might have ideas on future improvements of the indicator.
I'am not great when it comes to strategy design, i still hope to share correct and useful information in this post, let me know your thoughts on the post format and if i should make more of these.
Setup And Rules
The analysis is solely based on the indicator signals, money management isn't taken into account, this allow us to have an idea on the indicator robustness and resilience, particularly on extremely volatile markets and ones exhibiting a chaotic structure, altho it is normally good practice to close any position before a market closure in order to avoid any potential major gaps.
The settings used are 480 for length and 14 for mult, this create relatively mid term signals that are suited for a trend indicator such as the Grover Llorens Activator, unfortunately we can't infer the indicator optimal settings, thats how it is with any technical indicator anyway.
Here are the rules of our strategy :
long : closing price cross over the indicator
short : closing price cross under the indicator
We use constant position sizing, once a signal is triggered all the previous positions are closed.
Description Of The Statistics Used
Various statistics are presented in this post, here is a brief description of the main ones :
Percent Profitability (higher = better): Percentage of winning trades, that is : winning trades/total number of trades × 100
Maximum Drawdown (lower = better) : The highest difference between a peak and a valley in the balance, that is : peak - valley , in percentage : (peak - valley)/peak × 100
Profit Factor (higher = better) : Gross profit divided by gross loss, values under 1 represent gross losses superior to the gross profits
Remember that more volatility = more risk, since higher absolute price changes can logically cause larger losses.
EURUSD
The first market analyzed is the Forex market with the EURUSD major pair with a position sizing of 1000 units (1 micro lot). Since October EURUSD is not showing any particular strong trend but posses a discrete rising motion, fortunately cycles can be observed.
The equity was rising until two trades appeared causing a decline in the equity. Before October a bearish market could be observed.
We can see that the equity is rising, the trend still posses various retracements that affect our indicator, however we can see that the indicator totally nail the end of the trend, thats the power of converging toward the price.
In short :
$ 86.63 net profit
340 closed trades
37.65 % profitable (thats a lot of loosing trades)
1.19 profit factor
$ 76.67 max drawdown
Applying a spread would create negative results (in general the average spread is used), not a great start...
BTCUSD
The cryptocurrency market is relatively more volatile than others, which also mean potentially higher returns, we test the indicator using certainly the most traded cryptocurrency, BTCUSD. We will use a position sizing of 1 unit.
In the case of BTCUSD the strategy balance is relatively stationary around the initial capital, with of course high dispersion.
from september to december the market is bearish with various ranging periods, no apparent cycles can be observed, except maybe in the ranging period of october, this ranging period is followed by a non linear trend (relatively parabolic) that the indicator failed to capture in its integrity (this is a recurrent problem and it is starting to piss me off xD).
In short :
$ 2010.64 net profit (aka how i bet the crypto market)
395 closed trades
38.23 % profitable
1.036 profit factor
$ 5738.01 max drawdown (aka how i lost to the crypto market)
AMD
AMD stand for Advanced Micro Devices and is a company focused on the development of computer technology, i love the microprocessor market and i really like AMD who start this year in a pretty great way with a net bullish trend.
The performance of the indicator on AMD is decent (at last !) with the equity producing many new higher highs. The indicator performance still drop in the middle end of 2019 with a large equity drawdown of 17$ caused by the gap of august 8. Unfortunately AMD, like lot of well behaving stocks can only tells us that the indicator has good performances on heavily trending markets with no excess of noise or chaotic structures.
In short :
$ 17.86 net profit (Enough for a consistent lunch)
295 closed trades
36.27 % profitable
1.414 profit factor
$ 10.37 max drawdown.
Conclusion
A strategy using the recently proposed Grover Llorens activator has been presented. We can easily conclude that the indicator can't possibly generate long term returns under chaotic and volatile markets, and could even produce unnecessary trades in trending markets without much parasitic fluctuations such as noise and retracements (think about a simple linear trend) since the indicator converge toward the price and would therefore automatically cross over/under the trend, thus guaranteeing a false signal.
However we have seen its ability to provide accurate early reversal detection shine from time to time, thus over performing lagging indicators in this aspect, however the duration of price fluctuations isn't fixed at a certain period, the rate of convergence should be way faster during volatile fluctuations, of moderate speed during more cyclic fluctuations, and really slow with apparent long term trends, this could be achieved by making the indicator adaptive, but it won't really make it necessarily perform better.
That said i still believe that converging trend indicators are really interesting and aim to capture the non lasting behavior of price fluctuations, they shouldn't receive so much hate (think about the poor p-sar).
Thanks for reading !
Extreme VolumeThis indicator colors volume bars that are significantly higher volume than the vol moving average ( SMA ). Utilizes two multiplier that can be adjusted by user. Defaults are that the indicator colors volume bars yellow if 20% higher than average, and orange if over 50% higher than average.
Reason why i created this indicator is i typically don't care about volume unless it is significantly higher than average. I find extreme volume useful for confirmation of a breakout, etc. This is why the rest of the volume bars are gray, they are still available for reference, but I dont pay much attention until volume is higher than average.
Also, when you load this indicator it will be in its own pane below the chart. To try and figure out how to add it to same pane as the chart was a huge pain in the ass. Once you figure it out it is pretty easy. I'll try to explain below...
Next to the indicator name you have the following options ... Hide, Settings, Show Source Code{}, Delete(X), and More (3 dots)
1) Click on "More" (3 dots)
2) Click on "Move To" then chose "Existing Pane Above"
3) Volume will likely be too large. Volume scale should be on left side, use your mouse to adjust volume smaller
4) Volume will likely be in the middle of your chart, click on it and drag it down.

MACD - EURUSD - 1min Long OnlyMACD strategy with a specified level the MACD and signal line must be under. Once the two lines cross under the specified level, a long entry is executed. When the MACD line crosses over the historian, the close entry will be executed. This strategy is designed around the high probability of a reversal in an under-bought trend.

The CSI can help to see, if your trading pair have the potential to breakout on the support and resistance or if it more likely go back.
Some people say that the banks use this indicator.
NZD is missing there because Tradingview only support 6 variables.
If you have a solution for than, please let me know.

Dhananjay Volatility stop strategy v1.0
Sharing one more strategy after getting good feedback on my earlier published strategy.
This is simple volatility stop strategy where in we are using VStop as entry and exit point.
Again smart traders can add MA to decide the trend and can avoid trading in opposite direction of trend which will help them to minimize loss making trades.
There are more than 1 parameters which traders can use/change to make this strategy compatible to their instrument.
To understand what is VStop use google.com :-)
Looking forward to receiving feedback from all of you.
Strenght and MomentumThe scope of this script is to measure momentum and strenght of EURO and DOLLAR using their indexes.
Forza (line) above 0 means EURO is stonger than DOLLAR
Momento (histogram) above 0 means EURO has a positive momentum against DOLLAR
The added value to see MACD and RSI directly on EURUSD chart is that indexes consider also other pairs so their RSI and MACD has a larger view on forex markets.
Script has also an option for multi timeframes.
I think that could be used as filters for LONG or SHORT positions in lower time frames.
EMA Slope + EMA Cross Strategy (by ChartArt)This strategy uses divergences between three exponential moving averages and their slope directions as well as crosses between the price and these moving averages to switch between a long or short position. The strategy is non-stop in the market and always either long or short.
In addition the moving averages and price bars are colored depending if they are trending up or down.
The strategy was created for the "EURUSD" daily timeframe.
All trading involves high risk; past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results. Hypothetical or simulated performance results have certain inherent limitations. Unlike an actual performance record, simulated results do not represent actual trading. Also, since the trades have not actually been executed, the results may have under- or over-compensated for the impact, if any, of certain market factors, such as lack of liquidity. Simulated trading programs in general are also subject to the fact that they are designed with the benefit of hindsight. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown.
HL MovingAvg2Line Cross Dhananjay
Sharing the simple trend following trading strategy, traders can add their own rules in this, to minimise the losses and maximise the profits. Like below.
1. Go long only if price is above 189 days EMA/SAM
2. Exit position when high or low of previous candle is breached in the opposite direction of the trend.
3. Go long only if price is in up trend on higher time frame charts and go short when price is down trend of higher time frame charts.
Stop loss, target and other things can also be decided by the trader.
Idea is to capture the short term trend to trade in FnO or 2/3 days position in underlying instrument.
Traders can optimise the length of the Moving average so that your traded is set for maximum profit giving settings for this strategy. Different instruments responds to different moving averages because of different volatility.
Idea is to go long when price closes above 9 days EMA of Highs and exit and go short whenever price closes below 9 days EMA of lows, exit short when first condition meets after short trade.
I ma not that good with scripts, have many such ideas, interested script writers can get in touch with me so that we can create trading systems which have grater success rate .
Cowabunga System from babypips.comPlease do read the information below as well, especially if you are new to Forex.
The Cowabunga System is a type of Mechanical Trading System that filters trades based on the trend of the 4 hour chart with EMAs and some other familiar indicators (RSI, Stochastics and MACD) while entering trades base on 15 minute chart.
I have coded (quite amateurishly) the basic system onto a 15 minute chart (the 4 hour settings are coded as well). The author says the system is to be traded off the 15 minute chart with the 4 hour chart only as a reference for trend direction.
4 Hour Chart Settings
5 EMA
10 EMA
Stochastics (10,3,3)
RSI (9)
Then we move onto the 15 minute chart, where he gives us the trade entry rules.
15 Minute Chart Settings
5 EMA
10 EMA
Stochastics (10,3,3)
RSI (9)
MACD (12,26,9)
Entry Rules - long entry rules used, obviously reverse these for shorting.
1. EMA must cross above the 10 EMA.
2. RSI must be greater than 50 and not overbought.
3. Stochastic must be headed up and not be in overbought territory.
4. MACD histogram must go from negative to positive OR be negative and start to increase in value.
What I did.
1. Set the RSI and Stochastic levels to avoid entries when they indicate overbought conditions for long and oversold conditions for short (80 and 20 levels).
2. Users can input specific times they want to backtest.
3. User's can configure profit targets, trailing stops and stops. Default is set it to was 100 pips profit target with a 40 pip trailing stop. (Note, when you are changing these values, please note that each pip is worth 10, so 100 pips is entered as 1000.)
The Cowabunga System from babypips.com is another popular and active system. The author, Pip Surfer, continues to post wins and losses with this system. It shows there is a lot of honesty and integrity with this system if the author keeps up to date even 10 years later and is not afraid of sharing the times the system causes losses.
As an example of this, here is post he shared just last week . It's almost like a journal, he gives specific times and reasons why he entered, lets the readers know when he was stopped out, etc. I think that what he does is equally important as his system.
To read more about this system, visit the thread on babypips.com, click here.
HL2 - 22 EMA Cross for RenkoEURUSD
This is a simple strategy to use for those who like Renko bars. I ONLY use it on Renko.
Basic idea is that when the Renko bar closes above or below the 22 EMA, you go long or short.
However, some of the frustrations I've had with any strategy shared in Tradingview is so few folks put in the ability to set a stop or a profit target or the ability to set a specific time to trade. I have added those to this strategy. (And I for the life of me can not remember where I got the code for the the time, I need to find you!).
Special note: If you have never used the Renko bars in Tradingview, make sure you click the Format option next to whatever pair you are looking at and change it from Traditional to ATR. You can set it for a static pip amount if you want. But ATR at first will help you decide which amount of pips you should throw in.
This is my first published strategy so if I screwed up on anything or didn't explain it very well, please let me know!!

Pair Strength EURUSDThis is an application of the WaveTrend indicator by LazyBear against a basket of the eur and usd to come up with a total eur and usd wt value. You can change the currencies by altering which pairs its run on. As far as changes I removed the lagging 4sma and altered the OB OS to be 2 and 3 standard deviations from a 1000sma just to get a stable view as to where the values tend to rise to. I've had some success using it over the past week or so, when dollar is OB an euro is OS you can expect EURUSD to go up as those reverse and vice versa.
