Lululemon Set to Exit Nasdaq 100 as Index Adds New Members

lululemon athletica inc. (LULU, Financials) is among the companies set to leave the Nasdaq 100 Index as part of the benchmark's annual reconstitution, according to an announcement released Friday. The reshuffle comes at a time when shifts in market performance and sector weightings are prompting one of the index's more notable refreshes in recent years.

Six companies, including Alnylam Pharmaceuticals and Seagate Technology, will join the Nasdaq 100 when the changes take effect later this month. The updates aim to keep the index aligned with the largest and most actively traded non-financial companies listed on the exchange. Lululemon and Biogen are among the better-known names falling out of the index this cycle.

For Lululemon, the removal follows a year marked by uneven performance in its U.S. business and leadership changes that have left investors weighing the company's next phase of growth. While departing the Nasdaq 100 doesn't affect operations, it can influence stock demand as index-tracking funds rebalance around the new lineup.
