This chart shows the GDP per capita for the UK as given by official government inflation rates (blue) and the newer CPIH which includes changes in rental cost (purple). As you can see, whereas the UK Tory government and rich landlords paint a rosy picture of life, the truth has again wandered from 'fact'. The share of GDP in real terms, which we can think of as a measure of social equality, has collapsed since 2008 and not recovered.
