A few weeks ago you could read that Ripple has entered into a partnership with MoneyGram. This is a company that processes payments (in a traditional way for us). A pilot was started at the beginning of 2018 to transfer part of this payment traffic to the Ripple ecosystem. MoneyGram was very enthusiastic about the potential of this technology.
MoneyGram and Sentbe
So far nothing really new. However, the world's largest money transfer company has announced a partnership with Sentbe. This is a similar company from South Korea. Through this collaboration, the latter is deployed as a pioneer for entering the new Korean market.
Sentbe has a license as a financial institution in South Korea and strives to create equality on financial aspects by disrupting traditional markets.
This collaboration is expected to deliver an enormous number of extra transactions. For example, for the month of July, transactions of several billion in Korean Won are expected. At first glance this sounds huge, but a small disclaimer: a billion Won equals € 760,000. The head of Moneygram in this region, Yosesh Sangle, says that this is a strategic move to accelerate digitization in this region.
According to Sentbe's CEO, Alex Choi, the collaboration comes at exactly the right time. It can now better meet the needs of users by being able to apply "tech-savvy solutions within this space."
